When referring to analyses or data products that were produced with InVEST, please cite the use of InVEST and include a hyperlink (e.g., This analysis used InVEST®).The trademark symbol (®) should be used at the first mention of InVEST. Usage Data
The Natural Capital Alliance software team collects certain non-personal data each time an InVEST model or InVEST plugin is run via the InVEST Workbench. These data help inform future work on InVEST and support our mission to maintain InVEST as free and open-source software.
Specifically, we collect the following information about each model run:
- the InVEST version number,
- the InVEST interface (e.g., "Workbench" or "Qt"),
- the name of the model,
- whether the model is a core InVEST model or a plugin,
- the git URL the plugin was installed from (or simply "local" if installed from a local path),
- the union and intersection of the bounding boxes of spatial inputs,
- the operating system, system-default language, and character encoding on the computer running the model, and
- the model run start time.
InVEST usage data provide important insight into the reach of InVEST and help us continue to keep InVEST relevant to real-world problems. We are committed to collecting only non-personal information about InVEST usage, which may be used in aggregate for internal analysis and for internal and external reporting. The specific data we collect may change over time; this page is kept up to date with our current data collection practices.
